THE PPL FLY!
THE PPL FLY! is an immersive, multidisciplinary dream-play that reimagines the Black American mythology of how we fly through a speculative Black femme lens. In development with The Flea and previously workshopped at BAM, THE PPL FLY! is already making waves across New York’s performance landscape.
Akilah Sailers (she/her) is a Chicago-grown, Brooklyn-planted cultural worker. A graduate of NYU Tisch with a BFA in Drama and a focus in Black Performance Studies, she has performed on Broadway and beyond, collaborating under the leadership of renowned worldbuilders including Camille A. Brown, Bill T. Jones, George C. Wolfe, and Robert O’Hara. Her critical writing has been published in ESSENCE and other Black cultural platforms. THE PPL FLY! marks her debut as a co-producer, book writer, composer, lyricist, and a lead role.
